Sergio Ramos García is a twenty two year old footballer from Spain. He can play in any defensive position, and is comfortable pushing forward in to a defensive midfield role. Sergio Ramos is considered to be one of the best defenders in the world, especially when he plays in his preferred right back position.
The Spaniard started his senior career at Sevilla. He played for the ‘B’ team for one season, before he started playing for the main team in 2003. In his time at Sevilla FC, Sergio Ramos made twenty six appearances for the ‘B’ team, and played thirty nine games at the main team, scoring a total of four goals in the three seasons.
It was while at Sevilla that Sergio Ramos made a name for himself as an extremely competent defender, and he attracted the attention of one of the biggest clubs in football: Real Madrid. In the summer of 2005, the Spanish giants bought the young right back for a remarkable twenty seven million euros, a huge amount considering Ramos was only a teenager. His amazing effort rates made him an instant hit with the Real Madrid fans, showing that he did not just play well in defense, but also making runs down the right wing and demonstrating he has fantastic crossing abilities. In his three years at the club so far, Sergio Ramos has made one hundred and thirty appearances, and has scored seventeen goals for the Bernabeu club, but his career with the current Spanish champions has been very consistent, as he has made thirty three appearances in the league in each season he has played with them! While at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos has helped the team to two La Liga titles: one in the 2006-07 season, and one in the 2007-08 season.
Sergio Ramos has also been a crucial part of his country’s team as well. He has made around forty appearances for his national side, Spain, and has scored four goals for the team. Ramos has been a crucial part to Spain’s Euro 2008 campaign, playing the majority of the games and playing extremely well, and he was a contender for player of the tournament. Sergio Ramos has also played in other major tournaments for his country, including the 2006 World Cup. Before he played for the senior side, Ramos was an essential part to the Under 21 setup where he played just six games before his talent was recognized and he was put in to the senior side.
