Iker Casillas Fernandez is a twenty seven year old, who plays for Real Madrid. The six foot and one inch goal keeper is from Spain, and wears the number one shirt for Spanish club Real Madrid CF.
In his youth, Iker Casillas played for different Real Madrid teams. Firstly, he played for the Real Madrid Youth Team for eight years, before joining the "C" team, where he spent one year before progressing on to the Spanish side's "B" team for another year.
In 2000, Iker Casillas made the transition to Real Madrid's main team, where he made his debut. In the 1999 to 2000 season, Casillas broke the record for the youngest goal keeper to ever play in a Champions League final, just days after his nineteenth birthday.
After what can only be described as a bad season in 2001-02, Iker Casillas regained his form and won back Real Madrid's number one shirt, and is now the vice captain for the club. In his nine years playing for the first team, Casillas has made a total of over four hundred appearances for his club, and there are more to come, as Iker Casillas has recently signed a contract with Real Madrid that will keep him at the Bernabeu until 2017, with an extension to that contract guaranteed if he makes over thirty appearances in the 2016-17 season.
To add to these fantastic statistics, Iker Casillas has a trophy cabinet as big as his house, after successfully winning an immense amount of competitions, which include four Spanish League titles, two Spanish Super Cup finals, two Champions League titles, one UEFA Super Cup and an Intercontinental Cup, as well as many more at international level. It's a collection no one - not even the recent battle of planets winner - can buy because Iker Casillas puts them on top of his prized possessions.
Iker Casillas does not just play well for his club though, and his international statistics are equally impressive. He started playing for his national side, Spain, in 2000, and since then has made over eighty appearances, and now captains his country, too. Casillas has played in several major tournaments, including two World Cups (2002 and 2006) and two European Championships (2004 and 2008), as well as being an unused substitute in the Euro 2000 competition.
Iker Casillas has a range of international trophies to complement those at club level, including UEFA Championship winners' medals at both Under 15 and Under 17 age groups, as well as winning the World Cup at the Under 20 age group, and being runners up in many more major competitions.
